PSIG 46: Thursday June 7th, 2001
Attendance: 10 PSIG members on parade. Four of us went to WWDC at the end of May, while at least seven of us went to MacHack the end of June. Darrin Cardani and I wrote papers for MacHack, and part of the paper process is giving a presentation. To get maximum mileage from the work Darrin and I put into our papers and presentations, we gave our presentations at this PSIG. Darrin talked about color spaces: in particular, HSV (Hue, Saturation and Value) space. It was an incredibly interesting talk -- Darrin did a great job explaining what color spaces are, why there are different types, varying human interfaces used to pick colors and even demoed some filtering software he has in development. Alas, I wasn't able to talk him into wearing his HSV cone on his head: "the HSV Wizard!" I talked about data alignment. What it is, why it's important, etc. To my knowledge, no one's writing in-depth on data alignment. Now I know why -- nobody cares (the attendance at my MacHack session was low).
