PSIG 43: Thursday March 1st, 2001
Attendance: 7 This PSIG was all about revision control systems like RCS and CVS. Revision control systems allow one or more people to work on the same project at the same time, and keeps track of all changes to a project. Brian Fitzpatrick gave a great presentation on CVS at February's CAWUG (Chicago Area WebObjects User Group) meeting. While Brian would have loved to give it at PSIG 43, he was already booked. So I gave his presentation, emulating him with as high a fidelity as possible. I showed off Concurrent Versions Librarian (CVL). CVL is an open source, Cocoa-based, GUI front end to CVS which actually makes CVS somewhat palatable. Finally, I talked about Subversion, an open source tool that aims to replace CVS. Chris Hanson stepped up to the project and showed off MacCVS Pro, a CVS client which runs on the classic Mac OS. Bradley Slavik wasn't able to make this PSIG, so he'll give his RCS/CVS presentation at the next PSIG. Thursday, March 01, 2001
