Programming Special Interest Group
Location: The NorthWest of Us Office
Attendance: 6

This was a fairly interesting meeting. My father got rear-ended by a Coca-Cola truck downtown, and I needed to pick him up. Fortunately he wasn't seriously hurt, although his back is bothering him today.

Anyway, Mike Menze was kind enough to open the doors for the attendees, and they busied themselves until I could get there, about an hour after the meeting started.

I talked about Palm development, which is remarkably like Mac development. You write your applications in C using a special version of CodeWarrior. You have pointers and handles and callbacks, and something which smacks of the Resource Manager. Best of all, you can start programming for Palm OS for free -- there's a freely available version of CodeWarrior which includes all the necessary tools and documentation.

I gave the secret URL to the source code to all the built-in applications that comes with the Palm. These applications are great samples and illustrate real, complex applications on the Palm.
