I introduced assembly language for the PowerPC and 680x0 series processors. Assembly is one step removed from the raw binary codes that microprocessors actually read and act upon. Assembly is processor-specific (x86, 68K and PowerPC all have different languages) and easy to learn, but tedious to write. I even got a few chances to bad-mouth the x86.
