PSIG 21: Thursday February 4th, 1999
Attendance: 9 Due to the Holidays, PSIG 21 was moved to beginning of February. I presented Flour, a simple application I wrote in plain C. It has a menu bar and displays windows with simple text in them, and is event-driven (like all good Mac software). We fired up the debugger and walked through the code to see how it all meshes together. The presentation itself went well, although I didn't get to talk about everything I wanted to. Even so, the session went rather long. Feedback suggested I did a good job, however it really brought home how difficult it is to program the Mac. The projector wasn't cooperative. It would cycle its picture every 5 seconds, and try to resync to nothing. It came very close to me presenting off the 16" monitor. I don't know what he did, but Mike Menze got the projector to stop cycling. When I tried to connect my 6100 to the projector, I couldn't get a picture. As an added bonus, the Mac to VGA adapter's DIP switch documentation was missing. Using a trick that last worked on my Duo, I loosened the projector's connector and wiggled it. Hanging by just a few of its pins, I was able to get a picture, sans about 25 pixels off the left of the screen. Thursday, February 04, 1999
