C4 Scholarship Voting is On
The private voting url has been emailed to C4 folk. Scholarship applicants: in the grand MacHack tradition, you can vote for yourself. The page will be up for ~24 hours. It’s somewhat JavaScript-heavy, so make sure you use Safari or Firefox — I’m almost certain IE won’t like it. The voting system is super-low-tech — just a single web page that allows reading the applicant essays and check off up to three of them. You submit your vote which tosses an Ajax request to my site. The wacky part is that there’s nothing special handling the Ajax request — I’m just post-processing the apache log files to extract the votes from the GET parameters. STTCPW, there’s not even a database involved. The page includes the responses to the question I posed to applicants: “why you want to attend C4?” It’s some interesting reading. Sneaky tidbit: one of the entries are fake. Well, not fake, but written by me and not the applicant. I pinged him about his missing text, and got this back:
So I filled it in for him. Can you guess which one I made up? Thursday, September 14, 2006
