C4[1]: August 10-12 2007
The venue contract is inked. The pizza place has been put on notice. The bartenders are bracing. C4[1] is on. Expect to be in Chicago the evening of Friday August 10th. Registration tentatively begins at 5:30pm. The festivities come to a screeching halt Sunday August 12th, around 4pm. Unlike last year’s “optional” Sunday outing, this year Sunday is a major part of the main program — perhaps even the highlight. You’ll want to stick around for it. I’m holding off disclosing the venue until I have the discount code you should use to reserve your lodging. The code nets you a great room rate and also ensures your stay counts towards the room block I’ve reserved for the event. (Bad Things happen if I don’t meet the room block minimum, so I ask that you stay at the official venue if at all possible.) Based on last year’s rapid sell-out, rave reviews and the pleading email I’m already receiving, I expect this year’s slots to go rather quickly as well. I don’t have any great ideas to cope with the supply/demand imbalance, so I’m going with a simple first-come-first-served model. However, I know a lot of you need to get flight clearance from your boss/spouse/cat-sitter before committing, and it’s unfair if just the young-and-unattached can attend because they’re quickest on the draw. So if you need prior authorization, now’s the time to get it. Later on I’ll post details about the venue, the scheduled speakers+events and instructions on how to register. You’ll still probably want to act quickly when the notice goes out, but at least it will be an even playing field. Unless you subscribe to the unfair C4 twitter advantage. That might give you an edge. Friday, April 13, 2007
